Discipleship: Day 5

Ephesians 4:14  that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness by which they lie in wait to deceive,

15  but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head Christ

God enlightens us and guides us through our spirit. Our spirit needs to grow and be developed just like our mind and bodies needs to be developed.

Our spirit man can be taught and spiritually trained just like our natural man can be taught and trained in the things of this world.

We spend a lot of time and effort training our intellect and developing our mental facilities. We go to school from the time we are very little, however you don’t learn to be led by the Spirit of God and hear God's voice because of a great education, or lack of it for that matter. We have to put time and effort into training our spirit just as we put time and effort into training our minds or bodies. They will not develop if we do not develop them!  A great athlete didn’t get that way by setting on the sofa and eating potato chips, anymore than a great scholar got that way by playing video games all day. We all know that it just does not work like that. What ever is worth doing takes time and effort. Training our spirit is definitely worth doing.

We all have to start at the beginning, you first learn to crawl then walk then run. No child starts out by running a marathon the first time they get on the floor. Crawling develops muscles that will later be used in learning to walk, and then in turn for the next step for running.

Let’s not get discouraged but realize that wherever we are spiritually we can improve and grow in the things of God. We will get there if we are persistent and

Follow God’s directions.

Confession:

I will take the necessary steps to develop and train my spirit. My spirit is growing and being developed. I am growing up in all things into Him.
