Part 12
“The Vision for the Future”
A note to all you faithful ladies who have read and studied with us,I apologize for the time it took me to get this last section on our web site. Being ladies, many of us mothers with jobs, you all can be aware of how time gets away from us.
This lesson was never taught to the ladies at my church, as for some reason other events were scheduled on our Bible study days or many stopped coming for one reason or another. So when we, began again last year we began with a new study, whose lessons will also be posted soon. I pray you fine this conclusion to our study of Daniel enlightening and stimulating. Our time is short, Ladies and the harvest is ripe. I pray for impact on your lives, we do not want anyone left behind!!
Thank you and bless you all,
Sister Tinsley Baker.
Let’s conclude our study by completing Daniel chapter 11 and quickly moving into Daniel chapter 12. We concluded our last lesson with Daniel 11:1-35.
Daniel 11:36-45: 36. "Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. 37. "He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall magnify himself above them all. 38. "But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things. 39. "Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.
- "At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41. "He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42. "He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
- "He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels. 44. "But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many. 45. "And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him.
This section of Daniel is where history ends and prophecy of the end times begins.
The King is the anti-Christ. As you remember, we noted from previous studies that he will arise from the area that encompasses the ancient Roman Empire, which includes Greece, Syria, Turkey and parts of Northern Africa. However, many scholars believe that it will actually be the part of the ancient Greek empire later engulfed by the Romans. (See chapters 7 and 9.) The jump from verse 35 to verse 36 is huge and a little daunting, but stay with me and we will see how it becomes prophetic rather than historical.
Verses 36-39: 36.
Part of this prophecy takes places in the later part of the 7 year Covenant. As you remember, the anti-Christ will make a Covenant with Isreal for 7 years but break it after 31/2 years. (see previous chapters for review). The events of these verses will probably take place in the last 31/2 years, after the true character of the anti-Christ will be revealed.
These verses truly describe the most ungodly man imaginable. He will speak blasphemies against God that we cannot even imagine. He will make himself a God. Daniel makes an interesting statement in verse 36: “and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done.”
