Do You Need Heart Surgery?
Many times when things go wrong we run to God asking Him to fix the problem, but have you ever stopped to think that maybe fixing the problem is not the complete answer?
God May need to change you, too! God may need to do a little “heart surgery.”
Psalms 51:10: Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.
Many times we have things in our lives we need to give up, but we can’t. Things we need to let go, but we don’t. Things like anger, un-forgiveness, greed, lust, jealousy, selfishness and worry. Things that are keeping us from a closer walk with God.
We need to ask God to show us what and how to change, so that the attitude of our heart is in line with the Word of God.
Psalms 25:4-5: Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.”
Psalms 19:4: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
The wonderful thing about God is He wants to fellowship with us! That is why Jesus died for us, so that we can have fellowship with the Father. If you have areas in your life that are separating you from that fellowship, ask God and He will show you what you need to do, the areas you need to change, what in your heart is not right, so that your personal fellowship can be restored. The way you do this is spend time in the Word. Spend time in Prayer. The Word of God will convict you and show you the areas you need to change.
Psalms 119:105“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalms 119:10-12, 15-16, 24: With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes… I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word…Your testimonies also are my delight And my counselors.
To fully understand God’s Word and have this fellowship with Him, you must be born again. You must know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; you must have His spirit abiding in you.
John 3:3: Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.''
Once you are saved, born again, you are a New Creation, a New Creature. Old things have passed away, everything is new. (2 Corinthians 5:17).
But….even though you are a New Creature, your old sinful nature is dead and the life of God is abiding in you, You have to renew your mind by studying God’s Word, learning it and meditating on it daily. By studying God’s Word and praying you will find the directions you need to make the changes needed to restore and keep your fellowship with God.
God our Heavenly Father knows everything about you! He knows your name, He knows you as an individual person.
Isaiah 43:1…."Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.”
God knows your heart!
Psalms 139:1-7, 13-17: (Living Bible): O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit or stand. When far away you know my every thought. You chart the path ahead of me, and tell me where to stop and rest. Every moment, you know where I am. You know what I am going to say before I even say it. You both precede and follow me, and place your hand of blessing on my head. This is too glorious, too wonderful to believe! I can never be lost to your Spirit! I can never get away from my God! … You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body, and knit them together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous--and how well I know it. You were there while I was being formed in utter seclusion! You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your Book! How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can't even count how many times a day your thoughts turn towards me. And when I waken in the morning, you are still thinking of me!”
Isn’t it wonderful to know that God has such intimate knowledge of us? That he cares for us so much that His thoughts are on each of us every minute of every day. Don’t let anything separate you from this wonderful relationship. Do whatever it takes to get back into this relationship and to stay there.
Psalms 139:23-24: (Living Bible): Search me, O God, and know my heart; test my thoughts. Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
Ask God today what needs changing in you heart, what is ruling your life, what is separating you from this close relationship with Him. Allow God to create in you a clean heart.
Proverbs 16:20: (Living Bible): God blesses those who obey him; happy the man who puts his trust in the Lord.
Proverbs 2:1-6: My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
Proverbs 3:5-6: For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
Remember when you love God with all your heart and submit to His will, He will direct your paths.
I urge you today, if you don’t know Jesus as your personal Savior, and you want to know Him pray the following prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you in the name of Jesus.
Your word says, “…him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (Jn.6:37),
So I know You won’t cast me out, but You take me in,
And I thank you for it.
You said in your Word, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”
(Ro. 10:13) I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now,
You also said, “…if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”
(Ro.10:9-10).
I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification.
And I confess Him now as my Lord,
Because Your Word says, “… with the heart man believeth unto righteousness…” and I do believe with my heart,
I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21),
And I am saved! Thank You, Lord!
A Prayer for You:
Father, I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I know that there are areas in my life, things in my heart that I need to change. Show me now, Father, what I need to change, what to let go, what is keeping me from a closer fellowship with you. Lord I ask you to forgive me of these things (name what God has shown you). I lay these things down on to altar, Lord, never to pick them up again or have it control my life again.
Father, I ask you to forgive me for letting these things come between us. Thank you for showing me what to change and for your forgiveness. Now Lord, give me wisdom as I study your Word, help me keep your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you. I thank you Father, that I lean on you and not my own understanding, and that You will direct my paths.
Thank you, Father God. Amen.
