Standing on the Promises
Deuteronomy 28:1 "Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:”
The birth of Jesus was the fulfillment of God’s promises in the Bible to the nation of Israel and to us as believers. We, as believers, need to take time to rejoice in the fact that Jesus died for us and in the giving of His life, gave us, not only eternal life but also the promises of God to fill our everyday life.
What are the promises of God? There are too many promises in the Bible to count, but it has been said that there are over 30,000 in God’s Word, that we as believers can appropriate into our everyday lives!
In the following pages, I will list a few of the promises to get you started on dwelling in the blessings of God. These are for you to read, meditate on, study, live by and depend on in your everyday life. Our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 1:3).

Mark 13:31: “Heaven and earth shall disappear, but my words stand sure forever.”
God’s Word stands sure forever. It will never pass away. Whatever God’s Word says about your situation, it can be depended on and trusted to be true. God is faithful to keep His Word and His Promises to us!
Matthew 22:36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?'' Jesus said to him, " `You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: `You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.''
We as born again believers are not bound by the old set of laws and regulations set forth in the Old Testament. We are to keep the “great commandment” Jesus gave us. When we keep this commandment we are able to walk in true obedience, because walking in love is the key to everything and activates the promises of God. We become obedient because we love God with everything in us and we want to be obedient and live in a way that will please Him.
Deuteronomy 4:1” “Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers is giving you.”
When you learn to listen to the Father’s voice as reveled to us in His Word, and obey His voice you will go in and possess the land which the Lord God has given you. Our land today is our Christian walk; it is the life we lead as born again believers. To be successful in this life we must be obedient to our Heavenly Father in leading a life that glorifies Him.
Matthew 11:29: “ Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Our everyday life with the Father and Jesus as Lord can be easy or hard. We make the choice by believing in His promises and depending on Him not ourselves.
Proverbs 3:5: “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
1 Peter 5:7: “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
When we lean on God, and not ourselves, He will direct you in you everyday path.
When we turn our problems over to Jesus, trusting in Him to come up with the answers, not staying awake all night, or worrying all the time, we will truly find out how easy our burdens are. Jesus has provided for your every need! Trust Him!
Deuteronomy 4:29” “But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
God promises us that if we seek Him with all our heart and soul (mind), we will find Him
and dwell in His presence. Isn’t is wonderful to know, all we have to do is seek God and He is there for us, no matter what the situation is. He is there! You may have a specific need or just want to spend time with the Father, worshiping Him. It doesn’t matter what the reason, if you seek Him you will find Him!
Deuteronomy 4:39-40 “Therefore know this day, and consider it in your heart, that the Lord Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the Lord your God is giving you for all time.”
Ephesians 6:1-3: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother,'' which is the first commandment with promise: that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
Did you know God’s Word promises us long life? We can live long lives on this earth.
It doesn’t matter whether every relative you have died at age 62, God promises you a long life! Short unhealthy lives and early deaths are from the enemy, not God! Stand on the promise, inherit the blessing of a long life, honor your mother and father, keep God’s Word and walk in His ways and you will live a long life.
Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Psalms 18:30: “As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.”
The Greater One lives in you! Christ dwells in your heart as a born again believer. No matter what you are going through, Jesus is there with you and He will see you through to the other side. You can do all things, because it is His strength that sustains you. When you have a problem, don’t run to your best friend at work, or your mother or father, go to God! He alone has the answers and He alone will sustain you and never leave you!
Isaiah 43:26: “Put Me in remembrance; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted.”
Remind God of what the Word says about your situation, go to Him in prayer and claim your promise. God has a promise to meet every need you could ever have! Get into His Word and find that promise, than remind God of it, while declaring openly to the enemy what God has done for you. God always honors His Word!
Philippians 4:19: “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
God promise to meet your every need. Whether it is physical, emotional, material or spiritual, He promises to meet it! Whatever you need, God will supply it!

Deuteronomy 30:2-3: “If at that time you want to return to the Lord your God, and you and your children have begun wholeheartedly to obey all of the commandments I have given you today, then the Lord your God will rescue you from your captivity! He will have mercy upon you and come and gather you out of all the nations where he will have scattered you.”
1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
If you have drifted from the Lord, if you are not walking in His ways, all you have to do is acknowledge it, admit it, ask forgiveness and He will have compassion on you. He loves you so much, that He will have compassion and draw you back into the fold. He will always, always bring you back if you ask Him in true repentance!
I urge you today if you are not walking in the full blessings or promises of God, get back with Him! Learn the promises He has given you as a born again believer and go in and possess your land! Do not let the enemy rob you of what God has given you, learn what have in God, stand on it, claim it and walk in it!
If you want to know for sure that you are a child of God, then earnestly pray this prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Your word says, “…and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” (Jn.6:37), So I know You won’t cast me out, but You take me in, And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'' (Ro. 10:13).
I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now, You also said, “…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.” (Ro.10:9,10).
I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification. And I confess Him now as my Lord, Because Your Word says, “… with the heart one believes to righteousness…” and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21),
And I am saved! Thank You, Lord!
I can now truthfully say, I see myself as a born again child of God!
Glory to God!!!! Amen.
Prayer for Standing on the Promises of God:
Father God, I thank you for your Son, Jesus, who died for me. I thank you that through the work of Jesus in His life and death, that He fulfilled the promises you made to Abraham, Isaac and Moses and the people of Israel. I thank you that these promises apply to me and my life today. Father, I remind you that your Word says, “if I seek you, I will find you.”
Father, I am seeking a deeper walk with you, now. I want closer fellowship with you and am asking you for it now, as Your Word promises. Forgive me for any sins that keep me from this walk with you and guide me in greater knowledge of You and Your love. Father, I thank you that your Word says, “you will supply all my needs.” I am seeking a closer walk with you and I remind you that your Word also says, If I am obedient, you will give me the blessings of the land. Thank you, Father, that my needs are met. Thank you for long life for me and my children, and I bind the power of the enemy in my life and in the lives of my children.
Father, I thank you for this victory and ask that you continue to show me the full blessings you have for me, as I possess “my land.”
In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
