We Are Blessed! (Pt.3)
Psalms 119:1-2: Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the Lord!
Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart!
The Lord has had me meditating on The 119th Psalm verse by verse over the past few weeks and I would like to share with you some of the things I have gleaned from God’s Word.
According to Vines Bible Dictionary blessed is the state of prosperity or “happiness” bestowed which occurs when God bestows His favor on us.
God has blessed us with all spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 1:3).
Jesus has fulfilled this Psalm for us by dying for us. Jesus died so that we didn’t have to,
And because He died for us, we have now become the undefiled or righteousness of God in Christ.
Romans 3:21-24: But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God which is through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but praise His Name, we now have been redeemed through our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and have put on righteousness.
Romans 10:4-10: For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, "The man who does those things shall live by them.'' But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not say in your heart, `Who will ascend into heaven?' '' (that is, to bring Christ down from above) or, " `Who will descend into the abyss?' '' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? "The word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart'' (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.
2 Corinthians 5:21: For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
It is very simple for us now to be undefiled or righteous, we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that God raised Him from the dead and we are saved! It is very simple. It is not a complicated thing of going through a lot of rules and regulations, we believe, confess and are saved. We now have become the undefiled or righteousness of God!
Let’s look again at our original verse.
Psalms 119:1: Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the Lord!
Jesus fulfilled the law, we are no longer under the law, so what law do we walk in?
Matthew 5:17: "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
Matthew 7:12: "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew 22:37-40: Jesus said to him, " `You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' "This is the first and great commandment. "And the second is like it: `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
“On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.''
Romans 5:5: Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Praise God! When we became the righteousness of Christ, the love of God was deposited in our heart by the Holy Spirit. Therefore we walk in love, this is the law we are to observe, because when we walk in love we do all the Lord Jesus requires of us! Amen?
We give to others, we treat them like we want to be treated, and we forgive so that we can be forgiven. We do not let anger rule our lives and most of all we do not give place to the devil.
What does that mean giving place to the devil? It means we do not yield to temptation, we learn what the Word of God says about our lives and situation and walk in that, not the world’s way. We turn to God in our time of need and not to man. We seek God with all our heart and He will take care of us for it is a promise of God and His Word will not return void!
Matthew 6:33-34: "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
On the other side of this however, is our need to control our flesh so that we can remain undefiled. To remain undefiled, we are to walk in love, and seek God first. Our righteousness does not depend on our actions, but our fellowship with God does depend on our actions. When we sin, we separate ourselves from the presence of God, our walk is disturbed and nothing in our lives is right.
That is why the Psalmist said we are blessed if we walk in the ways of the Lord.
We are to put on the new man which was created according to God in righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:23-32: and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in righteousness and true holiness. Therefore, putting away lying, each one speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. "Be angry, and do not sin'': do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
nor give place to the devil. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.
You see, Paul, gives us simple steps to walk in love toward each other, for this is what we must do to remain in the blessed position of fellowship with God, to remain in that place of happiness which defines being blessed. We do not let our anger control our actions, we are honest with each other, in all our dealings and with God. We do not gossip or backbite, but speak only that which will help and build up each other. We are to be tenderhearted.
You know, being tenderhearted in something only God can give us. Some people are born with tender hearts and when they accept Jesus, the love of God only enhances that tenderness. But there are others of us, who the cares and trials of this world have callused our heart. Our heart is hard, covered in scars and hurt and only God’s love will change it.
We need to learn to trust and love again. This can only be done by God. If this is you, I urge you to pray for God to heal your heart and make it tender again, for God to fill you with His love and that you will know the width and length and height and depth of the love of God that passes knowledge and that you will be filled with the fullness of God. Amen!
(Ephesians 3:17-19).
So you see, it is really a big circle, we are the undefiled because we have become the righteousness of God in Christ and we are blessed! We continue to be blessed because we walk in His ways, we walk in His ways because we are blessed. It is a simple wonderful plan of God and I for one am thankful for it! Amen!
If you have not become the righteousness of God in Christ, if you have not made Jesus your personal savior I urge you today to pray this prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Your word says, “…and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” (Jn.6:37),
So I know You won’t cast me out, but You take me in, And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'' (Ro. 10:13).
I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now, You also said, “…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.” (Ro.10:9,10).
I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification. And I confess Him now as my Lord, Because Your Word says, “… with the heart one believes to righteousness…” and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21),
And I am saved! Thank You, Lord!
I can now truthfully say, I see myself as a born again child of God! The righteousness of Christ!
Glory to God!!!! Amen.
Prayer to know the love of God in your heart, for a tender heart.
Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus, the name that is above every name.
Lord I ask that you would grant me according to your riches in glory to be strengthened with might through Your Spirit in my inner man, that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith; that I, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that I may be filled with all the fullness of God. That my heart will become tender. That I may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I may have a walk worthy of You Lord, fully pleasing You, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy. That I will walk in love and be tenderhearted towards everyone. In Jesus Name, Amen.
(Ephesians 3:17-19, Colossians 1: 9-11.)
