What Are You Moved By?
We recently had an earthquake in our area and many people felt it, and or saw the results of it.
We live in a natural world where our senses tell us what is real. We are moved by the reality of what we see, feel, hear, taste, and smell. Our 5 physical senses tell us what we are perceiving in our natural world. However in the realm of the spirit it is just the opposite, physical senses do not and can not tell us of the realities of God, in fact the Word tells us in ICo.2:14. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. The natural man it is talking about here is the outer man or this man of flesh that is dominated by the senses, the inner man it is talking about is the spirit, this is the part of man that gets born again and communicates with God.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
We are a spirit, we have a soul, and we live in a body. Many have this turned around and it causes all kinds of problems for as we just read spiritual things are spiritually discerned.
But in order to hear God’s Word we have to listen to our spirit man, and we have to learn what God’s Word says, especially when it applies to a specific subject we are praying about. How can we hear His voice if we have never taken the time to learn of Him through the revelation of His written Holy Word? We can get deceived, for there are many voices out there, the devil can quote the Bible and misrepresent it. You must learn and come to understand what God’s Word is saying, this is spiritual discernment.
Proverbs 4:20 My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.
- Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart;
- For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.
- Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
Lets take a look at what Solomon was saying in these verses in Proverbs.
First of all we are to give attention to God’s Word. One translation says, pay attention to what I am telling you, listen carefully to my words; another translations say, Listen, son of mine, to what I say. Listen carefully. In other words we must put some effort into hearing what God’s Word is saying. Secondly when we have found the promises of God, we must keep them ever before our eyes, not looking to the right or left but straight on at the Word of God, and keep them in the midst of your heart. This is not talking about our physical heart, this is talking about our spirit. We must keep God’s Word in the midst of our heart, or another way of saying this is, in the midst of our spirit.
The Word goes on to tell us what will happen when we do this. For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. The they this is talking about are the words of God. They are life, they are health. You can’t find them if you’ve never put them before your eyes can you? If you’ve never put the Word of God before your eyes you will never find them. You have to do this, God will not do it for you. Spiritual things don’t just happen automatically any more than physical things happen automatically, they take work and effort, but the rewards are life and health. This is talking about spiritual life, but this spiritual life will influence and affect your physical life and cause your body to walk in divine health.
The last part of this is an admonishment or encouragement to continue in it,- Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Here again it is talking about your spirit. It must be very important to keep, if the very issues of life are in it. These are instructions from God the Father to His children on how to succeed. It will not happen automatically, we have to follow His instructions. But when we do, there are very great rewards.
John 15:7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
You see it is not just a matter of praying whatever, we have to pray according to the Word of God. His words must abide in us! If you are abiding in Him and His words are abiding in you, you are going to pray according to the Word of God, and you will get results. Jesus Himself said this. He said it shall be done for you, not it might be done for you, maybe if God is in the mood, no bless God, it shall be done for you! You must come to the point where His words are abiding in you and when that happens, you start seeing yourself physically healthy, you start seeing yourself as financially prosperous, you start seeing yourself as blessed, instead of cursed. Thank God, yes it takes effort but when you start seeing it, and keeping it before the midst of your eyes, and confessing God’s Word instead of what your physical senses are telling you, you enter into a higher realm of reality. Spiritual reality will change the physical reality. Some people say I can’t say something is a certain way if I can’t see it.
Jesus said you could in Mark 11:23 & 24 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, `Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Jesus said you would have them, he didn’t say you were to believe that you already have them, He said you are to believe that you have received them, then you shall have them. That is God’s Word we can stand on, it is more sure than the realities of this natural world. Jesus went on to say later in Mark "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. (Mark 13:31) God’s Word is a sure thing, we must come to the point where we can have confidence in it. That only happens when we get into the Word of God.
Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith doesn’t come any other way. So once we get into the Word and we find the promises of God, we must be diligent in what we do. We must constantly affirm the Word of God over what the circumstances of this natural world are screaming at us. This is not always easy, anybody who said it was easy never had to go through a great trial, but the more you do it, the more the reality of God’s Word will get settled in your heart. What did Proverbs say, keep them in the midst of your heart, for they are life to those who find them and health to all our flesh. This is how you keep them in the midst of your heart, by constantly affirming the truth of God’s Word regardless of what the circumstances of life are saying.
Begin to confess I abide in your Words, your Words abide in me, I believe I receive the answer to my petition, and I thank you Lord for it. Thank Him for your healing, thank him for your deliverance, thank Him for soundness of mind, thank Him for financial prosperity. Begin to see yourself with the answer to your request, after all if you have believed that you have received it.
You are not going to go around moaning and complaining about your problem, you have faith in your heart and the Word of God to stand on, that is alive and abides forever, and you will not fail if you stay steadfast in it, and be consistent. This takes discipline, and many give up before the actual manifestation comes, but get your eyes off the manifestation and onto the Word.
Remember, Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart, for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.
I would like to encourage you to get actively involved in the Word of God, and not be a hearer only.
Start acting on the Word, just act as if the Word were true, put God to the test.
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord I would like for you to meet Him, the first step is to earnestly pray this prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Your word says, “…and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” (Jn.6:37), So I know You won’t cast me out, but You take me in, And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'' (Ro. 10:13).
I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now, You also said, “…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.” (Ro.10:9,10).
I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification. And I confess Him now as my Lord, Because Your Word says, “… with the heart one believes to righteousness…” and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21),
And I am saved! Thank You, Lord!
I can now truthfully say, I see myself as a born again child of God!
Glory to God!!!! Amen.
