Redemption
Lets talk about our redemption and walking in the reality of it.
And why we had to be redeemed, and specifically why God had to redeem us the way He did. It was the only legal way He could redeem us.
He sent His Son to pay the ultimate price. The ultimate price was the physically and spiritually death of Jesus. The definition of spiritual death is separation from God. He was separated from the life of God. The spirit of a man will never cease to exist, that is who we truly are. Your spiritual man will exist eternally.
God gave Adam dominion over all His handy works.

Psalms 8:
- 1. O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is thy name in all the earth, Who hast
displayed thy splendor above the heavens!
- 2. From the mouth of infants and nursing babes Thou hast established strength, Because of thine adversaries, to make the enemy and the revengeful
cease.
- 3. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
- 4. What is man, that thou dost take thought of him? And the son of man, that thou dost care for him?
- 5. Yet thou hast made him but little lower than God, And dost crown him with glory and majesty.
- 6. Thou dost make him to rule over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet:
Romanized 'elohiym
Pronounced el-o-heem'
plural of HSN0433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative:
KJV--angels, X exceeding, God (gods)(-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty.
I don’t want to spend too much time on this but it is important for us to understand what God created. Man was not some after thought, we were created for the sole purpose to be His children. We are children of God.
Genesis 2:7: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
God formed the human body out of the elements of this earth.
He created the Earth, but He formed Man out of what He had already created.
God created man in His own image, He breathed the breath of Life into him.
That is when man was really made alive.
The life of God is the life giving source of that man. He had no lack of anything, no lack for knowledge or provision of any kind. He walked in a likeness of God. Religion doesn’t like to discuss this kind of thing. He was the ruler of this world, and He was a free moral agent. In other words he was given a free will.
He named all the animals of the earth. God let Adam name the animals He created. He had named them and he was given authority over them. They knew he was their lord and master. It also says, God wanted to see what Adam would name them.
Genesis 1:26. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
- 27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
- 28. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
- 29. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
- 30. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
- 31. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Every single thing that God created, He created for His man Adam.
And God gave Adam total dominion over all His handy works.
Adam created high treason, He ate the forbidden fruit.
Gen. 2: 17. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. spiritual death
God told Adam, thou shalt not eat. Eve had not been created yet. Adam had the ultimate authority in this.
Eve was the one who was beguiled, Adam was not. He was standing right there next to her the whole time. She ate then she gave to him who was with her and he did eat. He was not off on the other side of the garden somewhere he was right there!
- He could have kicked that serpent out of the garden, but he didn’t. He had the
authority to do that, but he didn’t. At that moment in time, Adam turned the dominion, that God had given him over to Satan.
Lucifer was called the anointed cherub. He took the anointing the power of God to create sin, or iniquity. He was not tempted. There can be no redemption for him.
Adam gave the authority that God had given to him, over to Satan.
Satan at that instant, became the God of this world. He became the prince of the power of the air using Adams authority.
God had to legally honor it. Adam didn’t have the moral right to do what he did, but he did have the legal right. He was a free moral agent, just like we are.
God’s life was no longer in man. A curse had been put on man. Satan had legally become the god of this world.
At that point in time God’s hands were tied, He had to legally honor what had happened.
God couldn’t just start over and create a new man, He doesn’t work like that.
He always honors His Word. ALWAYS He has to honor His word .
Besides, the earth had now become cursed,
even if it was His, which it wasn’t, He had to find another way to get his man back legally.
Spiritual death was in man and God had to use a legal way to get back in and kick
Satan out.
God appeared to a man named Abram.
Ge.17:1. And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
I am the Almighty God ------ El Shadday
- And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
- And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
- As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. pay attention, this is what I am going to do for you.
I think He had Abraham’s attention by this time.
- Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. past tense
- And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
- And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
- And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
- And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
- This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
He continued on to explain His covenant.
- 22. And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.
God made a covenant with Abram and changed his name to Abraham.
God made a legal agreement. That’s what a covenant is. He had Abraham cut his skin
and shed his blood in order to mark himself with God. circumcision
God marked Himself, He sealed Himself with this promise.
Every thing in the Lev. Law man had only to stand in faith on the Word, and God would perform it. God’s Word, He sealed Himself with that Word.
God agreed to do certain things for Abraham, and Abraham agreed to do certain things
for God, to walk in obedience to his Word, so that NOW GOD HAD A LEGAL WAY BACK INTO THE EARTH.
Now God had a funnel and his name was Abraham, and God could legally pour out His blessings on man.
God had a working contract with Abraham and his offspring, all they had to do was
walk in obedience, and they would stay in blessing. They could not walk in God’s blessing outside of this covenant
If they disobeyed they would step out of the blessing, God could do nothing about that, He has to honor His Word. God is not the one letting evil happen, we are.
God told Adam to go out and subdue the earth.
There had to be a man born like that first man. His name was Jesus,
the Bible calls Jesus the last Adam, or the second Adam.
God set that contract up to get that man on the earth.
Ep. 3:9. And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
10: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
The holy prophets had a glimpse of it. They could see it far off. But we have a right to see into these things. We are the children of God.
1Co. 2:9. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10: But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11: For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
God kept it hid, it was a secret, He wasn’t going to blab the whole thing to the devil.
Or tip his hat to Satan.
1Co. 2:7. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
Jesus walked in, and kept the Abrahamic covenant He was totally spotless in the sight of God, and He did it as a man. He had to, He had no legal way to kick Satan out.
The first Adam was the key to the fall, and the second Adam would have to be the key to the redemption.
He couldn’t do it as God He had to do it as a man or it wouldn’t be legal. God had set up a legal system in the Abrahamic covenant, that He had to follow.
God did not have the legal right to just come in and do this just because He was God,
This man who would fulfill this covenant had to be all man. The seed of Abraham.
God is just. Aren’t you glad of that.
God used His right that Abraham had given Him and caused a man child to be conceived from Himself inside the womb of a virgin. He used the covenant of Abraham to get it done.
The Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us.
- Jesus was the son of God but he was also the son of man.
Jesus is the second Adam, He was not immortal, He is eternal. God himself in the flesh, Immortality just means subject to death. You could not have killed Him if he was immortal.
- See the importance of this.
Adams body was made to last forever and would have, if he had not sinned and received spiritual death. Even at that, it took nearly 1000 years before he died.
Jesus said my life is mine to lay down, no man can take it from me.
So, Jesus walked in and ministered under the Abrahamic covenant. He stood on that covenant and ministered under that covenant with the Word of God and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. He went to the cross as the spotless lamb of God and He completed that covenant.
When He said it is finished, He was not talking about our redemption, He was talking about The Old Covenant. The Abrahamic Covenant had been fulfilled. Jesus walked perfect, He never broke the law, did He?
He walked under the covenant and fulfilled it in every way.
The final and absolute sacrifice was hanging on the cross, the finishing of it , was where Gods blood was shed.
- That totally fulfilled that Covenant. Abraham’s blood had been shed, and now
God’s blood was shed.
2Cor:5:21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
God put on Jesus, the iniquity of us all.
- He died spiritually, the life of God left Him, It was at this moment in time Jesus could
have failed. If He had done this as God and was incapable of failure, it would not have been legal. He did it as the son of man.
Why do you think in the garden of Gethsemane He sweated as if great drops of blood, and prayed if it be possible to take this cup from me. He saw what was coming, He knew what was at stake, the final temptation, all of creation was at stake.
Mt. 26:38. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death:
He was passing the test Adam failed and it was intense.
He was about to die both spiritually and physically.
The High priest of God hung the lamb of God on the cross, and it was legal.
A singularly unique thing happened then, Jesus for the only time in all of eternity was separated from God.
There was a difference
He knew no sin, yet He was made to be sin. He made Himself obedient to death into the hands of Satan. He did this not as an act of treason as the first Adam did,
but He did it as an act of obedience. It was His choice.
1 Ti.3:16. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
You can’t be justified, if you were not first unjustified. Could you?
At that point in time, Jesus cried out, My God My God why hast thou forsaken me.
Jesus was hanging on the cross and Eternity was literally hanging in the balance.
This was Gods last chance, THERE WAS NO MORE SACRIFICE BEYOND THIS, For God had given Himself, there was no more God could do. The life of God had left Jesus and He had become spiritually dead,
God paid the ultimate price.
He had become a mortal man capable of failure, capable of death, and He was about to be ushered into the pit of Hell. Satan thought He had won and mankind was doomed.
I want to say this again, If Jesus had been incapable of failure, it would not have
been legal.
Mt:12:40: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
The Holy Spirit revealed this to Peter on the day of Pentecost.
Acts 2: 27. Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
28: Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
29: Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30: Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31: He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32: This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33: Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34: For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35: Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36: Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Satan took Jesus went to the lower portion of Hell, and he suffered 3 days and nights for Adams treason. God having raised up Jesus having loosed Him from the pain of death.
Acts:2:24: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. Death could not hold Him.
There was one small problem, Satan had taken Jesus to Hell illegally.
He messed up. Jesus had not sinned, He had not broken the Covenant, He had walked perfect and upright before God, and He had the promise of God for deliverance.
Jesus had walked in the legal confines of the Covenant God had set up with Abraham.
God had set the trap and Satan had fallen for it. It was the mystery hidden in the ages.
After 3 days and nights Jesus The life of God came into the pit of hell itself, and Jesus became the first born again man. Right there in front of Satan and all his cohorts.
Ro. 8:29: For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Jesus was the first born again man, The first born from spiritual death to righteousness. He became the pattern of the new race of man to came.
Jesus went into the pit of hell as a mortal man and was resurrected from the dead. The difference being, He was born again on that side of hell and we were born again on this side of it. We won’t ever have to see that side of hell.
Col.2:15. And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
He whipped the devil right therein hell. The same way we do, with the Word of God.
And He took the keys of death and hell from Satan legally!!
Rv:1:18: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
All authority has been given in heaven and in earth. It was turned back over to God legally. Jesus became a reborn man.
God put himself in your and my position and lived through it, and took the authority away from Satan on the same grounds that Satan had taken it away from Adam. And God did it legally.
Jesus took Satan’s lordship away from him and left him standing helpless.
All any man has to do to break the bonds of Satan is to make Jesus the Lord of their life and walk in the reality of this resurrection. A new creation will take place.
2Co. 5:17. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Jesus was resurrected and so was I, He went to the right hand of the Father and that is where I am. We are raised up together with him and made to set with him in heavenly places. that’s where we are also.
Faith begins where knowledge of God’s Word starts.
I am free by the blood of Jesus. When you find it out, you can start exercising it.
We are Gods children, His very own children.
Ep.4:8. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. apostles prophets evangelist pastors and teachers.
Jesus left hell, he ascended to the Father and then went back and preached to that group in paradise, And got them born again, Abraham and all the prophets. He led them right on up to heaven. The Word says the graves were opened up and many of the dead were seen walking the streets.
- Jesus is a glorified, resurrected, born again man, and He went to be with the Father. And we are seated with Him.
Ac.13:29: And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.
30: But God raised him from the dead:
31: And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.
32: And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,
33: God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
Not when He was born of Mary, when He was born again!
The same power that God used to raise Jesus from the dead is the same power that God used to raise us from the dead.
He. 1:13: But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Eph:2:1: And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
1Cor:1:18: For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
Eph.2:5: Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6: And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
- We have become new creatures in Christ, We have the light and the life of God in us, And we have become joint heirs with Christ.
Glory To God!
